What to Bring
Packing for the hills
A general guide to the cool, misty air of Bedugul, so you arrive with the right layers.
A general guide
Pack for cool air
Bedugul sits high above the coast around Lake Beratan. Days can be mild and bright, evenings and early mornings are cool, and mist rolls in quickly.
01 · Evenings & early mornings
Warm layers
Bedugul sits high in the hills, so the air turns cool once the sun drops and stays crisp until the morning mist lifts.
- A fleece or warm sweaterThe one piece you will reach for every evening.
- Long trousersBetter than shorts for sunrise on the balcony.
- Warm socksFloors and grass feel cold first thing in the morning.
- A light beanie or scarfSmall, easy to pack, and welcome by the fire.
02 · Mist & passing showers
Rain-ready
Clouds roll over the lake quickly. A shower can arrive and clear within the hour, so plan for both.
- A packable rain jacketLighter and handier than an umbrella on garden paths.
- A dry bag or zip pouchKeeps your phone and camera dry while you explore.
- A spare change of clothesUseful after a damp walk around the lake.
03 · Paths & lawns
Good footwear
The site sits on a hillside with steps, lawns and garden paths that can be wet with dew.
- Shoes with gripTrainers or light hiking shoes for steps and slopes.
- Sandals or slidesFor quick trips between your cabin and the common areas.
04 · After dark
Night-time comforts
Nights in the hills are quiet and dark, which is half the charm when the sky is clear.
- A small torch or headlampHandy on paths after dark.
- A power bankFor long days of photos and navigation.
- Insect repellentGardens and greenery come with a few small visitors.
05 · Little extras
Nice to have
None of these are essential, but guests who bring them tend to be glad they did.
- Sunscreen and sunglassesHighland sun can be strong between the clouds.
- A reusable water bottleEasy to refill and kinder to the hills.
- Any personal medicationEasier than searching for a pharmacy mid-trip.
- Cash for local marketsSmall stalls around Candikuning may not take cards.
Morning & night
Two kinds of weather
The same day can feel like two climates. Plan for both and you will be comfortable from sunrise to the last ember.
Mornings
Pale, misty and fresh. A sweater, socks and something warm to drink on the balcony.
Nights
Cool, dark and quiet. A warm layer for the fire and a torch for the paths.

How cold does it get?
Cooler than Bali’s coast, especially after sunset and early in the morning. Most guests are comfortable with a fleece or sweater and long trousers.
Will it rain?
Showers and mist can pass through at any time of year in the highlands. A light rain jacket is the most useful thing to pack.
Do I need hiking boots?
Not usually. Trainers or light walking shoes with grip are enough for steps, lawns and garden paths.
Something specific in mind?
Ask the team on WhatsApp before you travel. They can tell you what the cabins already have.
